Additel ADT295: A Field Device Communicator With No Subscription Fees

Additel ADT295 Field Device Communicator calibrating a HART pressure transmitter with an ADT161 pressure module on a hand pump

Additel's new ADT295 configures, calibrates and diagnoses HART instruments, with Foundation Fieldbus and Profibus PA models, more than 2,600 device descriptions preloaded, and free library updates over Wi-Fi.

Additel has launched the ADT295 Field Device Communicator, a handheld for configuring, calibrating and diagnosing HART, Foundation Fieldbus and Profibus PA instruments such as pressure transmitters and valve positioners. It works online with installed devices in the plant and offline on the bench, and its built-in 24 V loop supply powers a transmitter directly, so there is no separate power supply or loop resistor to carry.

No subscriptions, no locked features

The ADT295 arrives with more than 2,600 device descriptions (DDs) preloaded. Additel updates the DD library and firmware at no charge over Wi-Fi, with no support contract or subscription, so keeping the communicator current is a one-click update on the unit itself, no PC required.

Communicator and calibrator in one

  • Measures voltage and current to 0.01% of reading and sources 0 to 24 mA for checking AI and AO cards
  • 24 V loop supply with 30 mA of drive powers the device under test
  • Calibrates pressure transmitters with one external Additel ADT161 digital pressure module while it talks to the device
  • Integrated loop diagnostics
  • 5 in color touchscreen plus a physical keypad, both usable with gloves
  • About 20 hours of battery life in measurement mode; IP54 and 1 m drop tested
  • Ships with an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited calibration certificate

Three models

The ADT295 is the HART model, fully functional at launch, at $7,876 list.

The ADT295-FF adds Foundation Fieldbus ($10,247), and the ADT295-FF-PA adds Foundation Fieldbus and Profibus PA ($10,514). Per Additel, the fieldbus models ship with limited fieldbus functionality, and free firmware updates planned for December 2026 (Foundation Fieldbus) and Q1 2027 (Profibus PA) complete it.

Choose the protocol up front: a HART-only ADT295 cannot be upgraded to a fieldbus model later because of internal hardware differences.

Spare 9705 batteries, test cables and hooks, and the 9919-295 hard carrying case are available separately.

Ordering

Additel begins shipping the ADT295 on November 16, 2026, with a lead time of about 10 working days. Valley Instrument is quoting all three models now. Tell us which protocols your plant runs and we will help you pick the right model and accessories.
