RKI Instruments has released the GX-6100, the successor to the GX-6000 that has anchored confined-space and VOC work for years. The formula stays: the four standard confined-space gases (LEL, O2, CO, H2S) plus two interchangeable smart-sensor slots. What changes is the reach of those slots: dual PID capability, PPM and IR options, super-toxic sensors, and a VOC library that now exceeds 600 compounds.
The practical details hold up: internal sample pump for remote draw, man-down and panic alarms, a rotating LCD that reads correctly however the unit hangs, an LED flashlight, and up to 28 hours of runtime on the Li-ion pack. RKI backs it with a three-year material and workmanship warranty, and the new SDM-6100 docking station handles calibration and bump testing.
For crews already running GX-6000 fleets, the GX-6100 slots into the same role with more sensor flexibility per unit, which can mean carrying one instrument where two went before.
